All along the Blue Ridge Parkway you can find historic sites. Some are quick stops while others are large estates.

When most people visit the Blue Ridge Parkway they go out hoping to find a nice overlook or see a beautiful sunset. But that just scratches the surface.

Take a closer look, and you'll find that certain overlooks hold a fascinating history just waiting to be explored.

One of the first places to check out is the Mountain Farm Museum at Humpback Rocks at milepost 5.8.

Polly Wood's Ordinary is along Abbott Lake at milepost 86. But it is just one of the historic buildings at Peaks of Otter.

Mabry Mill at milepost 176 is the most popular historic stop on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia and the perfect stop for beautiful fall colors.

Puckett Cabin is at milepost 189.9 and commemorates Orlean Puckett. She was a locally famous midwife, who helped deliver over 1000 children.

Brinegar Cabin is in Doughton Park in North Carolina at milepost 238.5. Not only that, you can enjoy a meal at the Bluffs Restaurant.

Moses H Cone Memorial Park houses Flat Top Manor at milepost 294. Of all the historic buildings, this is definitely the most impressive.

For the rest of the list head to the post. There are many more stops and a lot more history to look forward to seeing.
