The Blowing Rock, North Carolina area is one of the most beautiful places in all of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Before your next visit you need to know where to stop for the best sunrise, sunset, and stunning mountain views.

The two most beautiful times to visit Blowing Rock are Late May into early June and mid October.

Most, but not all, of the best overlooks near Blowing Rock are on the Blue Ridge Parkway

Grandview Overlook at mile post 281.4 is amazing for huge mountain views, but it is best during sunrise.

Raven Rocks Overlook is a jutting cliff at milepost 289.5. The view perfect for a stunning sunset.

Thunder Hill Overlook at milepost 290.4 is, in our opinion, the best overlook near Blowing Rock. It is fantastic for both sunrise and sunset.

Flat Top Manor at Moses H Cone Memorial Park has another one of the best mountain views, right from the front porch.

Yonahlossee Overlook at milepost 303.9 is possibly the most photographed spot on the Blue Ridge Parkway because of the Linn Cove Viaduct.
